Director, Brand Voice

The salary range for this role is $121,044 to $151,305.

Sinai Health Foundation is seeking a strategic communicator with an editorial eye and keen aesthetic to bring dynamic content to life through a multi-channel approach. The Director, Brand Voice, will act as the brand voice steward and ensure that all written and visual communications ladder up to the brand and Sinai Health Foundation’s institutional priorities. This role will build an overarching approach to content and creative and champion this throughout the organization.

Day to day, this role works alongside writers, designers, internal and external stakeholders, and Sinai Health partners to showcase the incredible stories of care and impact across Sinai Health.

Reporting to the Vice President, Donor Experience & Communications, this position will lead and mentor a team of designers and writers to produce engaging content and oversee an editorial calendar with a robust story pipeline. The Director, Brand Voice will act as a strategic partner across the organization, overseeing and providing strategic oversight and direction to the writing and design team, coordinating internal and external resources to provide exceptional service and high-quality products. The Director, Brand Voice will prioritize the content needs for the Foundation’s fundraisers including campaigns for our Integrated & Brand Marketing Team and strategic donor communications for our Philanthropy Team. The Director, Brand Voice will work with their teams to translate briefs and brand strategies into emotive content that will resonate with our stakeholders and drive results.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a multi-channel content strategy to build awareness of Sinai Health and its areas of care to support awareness and fundraising; with the Vice President, Donor Experience & Communications, develop the Foundation’s brand voice guidelines and ensure that these standards are implemented consistently across campaigns and materials

  • Develop and maintain an editorial calendar working with Corporate Communications (Hospital) and across the foundation to ensure Sinai Health’s flagship programs and the foundation’s fundraising priorities are highlighted

  • Oversee design and production, reviewing creative and providing direction as required; with the Vice President, Integrated & Brand Marketing, ensure that Sinai Health Foundation’s brand standards are implemented consistently across all campaigns and materials

  • Lead the strategy and content development for the Foundation’s Report to the Community (annual report) on an annual basis

  • Proactively engage with Sinai Health physicians and researchers to identify compelling stories and identify grateful patients who are willing to speak to their Sinai Health care experience; help to create a pipeline for our Ambassador Program

  • Work with partners on the Integrated & Brand Marketing Team to develop the content strategy for all Sinai Health Foundation digital platforms, including the joint Sinai Health/Foundation website and social media channels

  • Along with the Vice-President, Donor Experience & Communications develop an earned media strategy for the Foundation that elevates the profile of Sinai Health, it’s physicians and researchers and the campaign priorities identified

  • Working with Corporate Communications (Hospital) identify and execute PR/earned media opportunities that highlight Sinai Health’s strengths and the foundation’s fundraising priorities

  • Define and optimize the copywriting approval process within the organization

  • Work with cross-functional teams; build supportive, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders

  • Support and mentor a team of six designers and writers.

Job requirements:

  • A minimum of 7-10 years in copywriting, editing, brand narrative and creative

  • Minimum 3 years experience managing a team

  • Successful completion of an undergraduate degree or diploma from an accredited educational institution. Proven equivalent and recent related education, training and experience may be considered

  • Experience working in creative agencies, media publications, or in-house marketing and/or creative teams

  • Experience developing tone of voice for brands

  • Proven ability to create and implement a robust content strategy that delivers measurable results; a keen editorial eye

  • Understands the intersection of communications and marketing and digital, and can integrate with teams and colleagues as appropriate to ensure a strategic approach

  • Creative and resourceful; able to produce high-quality products with limited resources

  • Experience balancing multiple projects at one time, planning and managing your team’s schedule effectively
