Sinai Health Foundation seeks a Senior Development Officer, Leadership Giving to lead Sinai Health Foundation’s efforts to cultivate relationships with prospects and donors at the leadership giving level. Specifically, the incumbent will manage a portfolio of 200+ leadership level giving prospects, with the goal of increasing their giving and engagement.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Donor Programs & Hospital Engagement, the incumbent will develop and execute a fundraising strategy focused on engaging, cultivating and stewarding annual and leadership giving prospects by having meaningful conversations with existing donors, new prospects, individuals and families to identify areas of interest at Sinai Health that best align with their future philanthropic aspirations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage a portfolio of 200+ leadership level donors and prospects, with a primary focus on gifts ranging from $1,000 to $49,999
  • Responsible for cultivating and soliciting leadership level gifts totaling approximately $1M annually
  • Partner with the Executive Director to develop, implement, and continuously improve processes, strategies, and donor engagement plans for the leadership giving program
  • Build and maintain meaningful donor relationships through group and personalized cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and engagement strategies that support donor retention, growth, and long-term philanthropic commitment
  • Deliver best-in-class donor stewardship and impact reporting in partnership with the Donor Experience team, ensuring meaningful donor experiences that strengthen engagement, loyalty, and continued giving
  • Build strong relationships with Foundation colleagues, clinicians, researchers, and hospital leaders to connect donors with Sinai Health priorities, translate hospital priorities into giving opportunities, and support meaningful donor engagement
  • Play an essential role in the Foundation’s donor pipeline by identifying donors with increased philanthropic potential, graduating donors to Major Gifts or Planned Giving when appropriate, and supporting donors coming into the leadership giving portfolio as part of a seamless donor journey
  • Collaborate with fundraising colleagues to ensure coordinated donor strategies, effective handoffs, and alignment with the Foundation’s long-term pipeline development goals
  • Maintain accurate donor records, portfolio activity, and engagement tracking within Raiser’s Edge and other fundraising systems, utilizing strong analytical and reporting skills to inform strategy, identify opportunities, and support portfolio growth.

Job Requirements:

  • A successful completion of a University or College Diploma in a related field from an accredited educational institution. Proven equivalent and recent related education, training and experience may be considered
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the charitable sector, with a track record of contributing to successful fundraising programs and working in collaboration with stakeholders to manage the solicitation and ongoing stewardship of gifts
  • Self-starter with a bias for action; the ability to plan, organize and prioritize work, while managing multiple tasks and meeting tight deadlines
  • Flexible; comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented, with strong computer and administrative skills; comfortable with the Microsoft Office suite; experience with Raiser’s Edge or another relational database preferred
  • Tactful, diplomatic, and confident with a keen ability to develop, foster and maintain relationships; capable of interacting effectively with physicians, researchers, donors, and volunteers
  • Ability to work both collaboratively within a team and independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; can translate complex concepts into digestible and understandable narratives
  • Proven strategic and solutions-oriented thinking, combined with exceptional project management skills

This position has a compensation range of $80,804 to $101,006. The hiring range is $80,804 to $87,804.

Sinai Health Foundation is a hybrid workplace, located in downtown Toronto. Currently, all employees are in-office on Tuesdays for the Foundation’s “anchor day”, as well as approximately 24 additional in-person corporate meetings, events or activities annually. Additional in-person requirements vary by team and job function. Our Workplace Flexibility policy is reviewed on a bi-annual basis to ensure the current state of hybrid work is meeting our organizational needs.
